Overbelt Magnetic Separators
The magnetic systems with the special shape of a magnetic field ensure sufficiently strong magnetic field’s strength at a considerable distance from the separator. They are manufactured from the ferrous magnets most often. These are applicable for removing accidental metal elements from conveyor belts, hoppers; in order to protect the particular devices (crushers, mills, etc).
Three basic types are:
- static – without the discharging belt, that removes the magnetic material in a constant way. It is applied when small amount of iron is expected (manual cleaning or using simple cleaning mechanism).
- self-cleaning – hanged crosswise over the belt, assures strong magnetic field and safe working environment. It is cleaned in a sustained way by the discharging belt which allows to remove greater amount of metal elements.
- self-cleaning longitudinal – installed above the dumping along the belt (falling material enables to increase effectiveness of the separation)
Magnets are manufactured in various shapes and dimensions (we define strength of a magnetic field in the 5-degrees scale, width of conveyor belt is determined from 800 to 2000 mm). We are capable of adjusting a type and dimension of the magnet to your technologies and needs.
Exemplary separators’ dimensions:
900 x 204 x 92 mm, weight 77 kg
825 x 426 x 189 mm, weight 470 kg
830 x 946 x 343 mm, weight 1470 kg, assembly to 250 mm above a belt
1040 x 946 x 343 mm, weight 1940 kg, assembly to 400 mm above a belt
1555 x 950 x 430 mm, weight 3500 kg, assembly to 360 mm above a belt
How to choose the proper magnet type?
In general, a magnet dimension is dependent on height of the material’s layer on the belt and on the belt’s width. The closer magnet is to iron objects, the better is the level of separation. Additionally, the width of the magnet should be aproximatelly corresponded with the width of the belt on which there is a product (in most cases it is about a conveyor belt). The type of a product also has an influence on the type of magnet: removing iron from small pieces of wood is obviously easier than iron separation from coal. On this website you will find the questionnaire that enables to determine all the conditions that have an influence on separator’s selection. On its basis we can choose the proper device.
Permanent magnet or electromagnet?
The application of permanent magnet, as well as, electromagnet is possible. An electromagnet advantage is deeper “field of attraction” and easiness of cleaning. It concerns bigger types especially. After switching off a power supply the magnetic elements simply fall off from its surface. An advantage of permanent magnet is permanent presence of a magnetic field. These are not dependent on power supply, therefore, they gain the advantage over other magnets in the matter of the maintanance costs.
