Drum Magnetic Separators

Functions

Drum separators solve the problem of removing ferrous material from the product which is non-ferrous. The device is installed in a vertical transport pathway (e.g. pipeline, vibration feeder).

The biggest advantages of this system are possibility to separate fine ferrous fraction in a continuous way and to process significant quantity of material in a period of time.

Application

The drum separators are used in recycling branch for removing iron from any kind of waste (e.g. tires’ recycling, metal waste, etc.) and for improving the quality of a product, as well as, they are used in a food industry. Another application is removing weakly magnetic contaminants from non-magnetic industrial materials; for example, from glass and ceramic material or metallurgical sands.

The described devices could operate in the processes of wet and dry separation.

Description

Drum separator is most often installed in the special casing in which ferrous fraction is automatically removed under the influence of magnetic field and it is led to other place (e.g. to container). The remaining product does not change its trajectory.

For less volatile materials it could operate without the casing, in the end of the belt or vibration riddle.

The drum itself is composed of immobile magnetic part, which is surrounded by stainless steel cover. The cover rotates around a magnet and removes magnetic particles beyond normal flow of the material. Additionally, it causes particles to rotate, which facilitates ferrous material’s separation from the remaining fractions.

Drum separators are equipped both with ferrous magnet and three-time stronger neodymium magnet (NEOFLUX). Neodymium magnets increase magnetic field value on the drum’s surface, and ferrous ones causes magnetic field’s deepening. It is extremely effective combination.

What is more, we offer the special version of RE-Co separator with a strong magnetic field generated by permanent RE/RE-Co magnets, which enable to concentrate weakly and medium magnetic materials and ores.

The special construction of magnetic pole of every magnet assures creation of sufficiently strong magnetic field.
If needed, we add to the system the construction that demagnetizes separated fraction and prevents from the problems in the further parts of technological process.

Principle of operation
